*PLEASE NOTE THAT BECAUSE OF COVID19 APPOINTMENT TYPES HAVE CHANGED*
The appointments line can be contacted on 01924 334451, and press option 2. Please note that our phone lines are extremely busy between 8am and 11am therefore please bear with us whilst we answer your call. Your patience and understanding in this matter is much appreciated.
Routine appointments can be booked (or cancelled) either by telephone, face to face or on-line. If you do not have on-line access to the appointments system please contact reception. More information about this service can be found here. You can also download and print FORM A or FORM B.
Appointments are available between 8:00am and 17:45pm, Monday to Friday.
We offer 3 different types of appointments*:
- pre-bookable - up to 2 weeks in advance
- 48 hour access - up to 2 days in advance
- same day - on the day from 8am
*Because of Covid19, you now have to book a same day telephone consultation with a GP/ANP/MIN by ringing at 8am on the day. Once you have spoken to them over the phone about your problem, they will decide if they need to see you face to face. If they can help you without you having to come down to the surgery it reduces the number of people coming in and out of the Practice, and therefore reducing the risk of Covid19 spreading.
If you require an urgent same day appointment after all the available same day appointments have been booked, you will be placed on a list for a Health Care Professional to call you back to assess/book you an appointment if required.
Please note that appointment slots are for 10 minutes duration only and for one patient per appointment slot. This allows us to monitor and cope with the demand for patient consultations. If you have other family members who accompany you that require a consultation, please advise reception when making your appointment. If you have more than one problem to discuss, it is advisable to request a double appointment which provides a 20 minute consultation period. For more details click here.
We are now pleased to be able to offer our patients the opportununity to book routine appointments with our GPs.
Firstly, you need to obtain your login details from the surgery, please call in and ask the Receptionist to print them off for you.
Once you have these available, please go to https://SystmOnline.tpp-uk.com to be directed to the on-line appointment booking facility,
Please note that not all appointments are available and should you not find one that meets you requirements, then please contact the surgery via telephone.
Out of Hours
GP CARE WAKEFIELD is an extended out of hours service owned by all Wakefield GP Practices to cover the entire population of the Wakefield district.
It operates from 4 – 10 pm Monday to Friday, and 9 – 3pm Saturday’s, Sunday’s and Bank Holiday’s. Outside of these times please telephone 111 or ring back during normal surgery hours if your need is not urgent. Our telephones will be automatically diverted during their operating hours above.
Following triage of your problem, if deemed appropriate the service will offer you a GP appointment at Trinity Medical Centre or Pontefract General Infirmary.
By broadening the availability of GP access, medical advice and support, patients will no longer need to attend A&E for conditions that are not suitable.
There needs to be shared consent in place for the service to be able to provide safe care all therefore please ensure you give explicit record sharing consent when accepting an appointment with the service. Patients who prefer not to give shared consent cannot access this service.
The service is not available for routine matters such as repeat prescriptions.
Nurse appointments out of hours
In addition to the above, between 6pm & 8pm Monday to Friday, and 9am & 1pm on Saturday’s, Sunday’s and Bank Holiday’s, patients can be seen for routine annual review of IHD, Diabetes, COPD, Asthma & Stroke but only if you are well controlled and your condition is stable. Other routine nurse care includes:
- Blood tests
- Routine ECG (not chest pain)
- Review of contraception pill
- Repeat depo injection
- B12 injection
- Removal of sutures and clips
- NHS Health checks
Many valuable surgery and hospital appointments are wasted by patients who do not cancel any unwanted appointments resulting in the waste of a professional person's time and means that another patient will have to wait longer - this patient in need might sometimes be you. For this reason we ask that you contact us if you no longer require your appointment.
Due to the seriousness of this challenging issue, patients who DNA (do not attend) their appointment on 3 occasions may be subject to removal from the practice register.
Telephone 01924 334451 and select option 1. The Receptionist will take details and pass the message to the duty doctor. On assessment, the duty doctor will advise you of the relevant course of action, which may be to attend the surgery for an immediate consultation or to attend Accident and Emergency directly.
If you require the services of either a chaperone or interpreter please inform the Receptionist when you book your appointment.
